MATT FROST

Matt started riding at the age of 6 at his local riding school near Bristol, after that first lesson he was hooked.

Spending most of his spare time at the riding school Matt learnt from an early age the discipline, dedication and hard work involved within the horse industry.

After many years of begging, Matt got his first pony at the age of 10. He started to compete her at local shows in all disciplines. In his teenage years Matt worked at various competition yards having outgrown his beloved pony Megan. He would turn his hand to anything with the horses he had the opportunity to ride.

In 1998 he rode his first “proper” dressage horse. Having been used to highly-strung thoroughbreds that he rode in eventing, he was amazed how much you could ask of dressage horses – He was usually calming them down!

Having completed his A-levels Matt worked full time at the Isolde Stud, where he assisted in all aspects at the stud. He received a lot of tuition and advice from Danish owners Jan Andersen and Birgitte Hartmann. In this time he also completed his Equine Dentistry education in America.

In 2000 Matt packed his belongings and moved to Denmark having decided that he wanted a career riding horses. In the spring of that year he had gone for a 3-week training trip to Birgitte’s homeland. Matt was amazed by what he saw in the riding school each day. He helped the apprentice riders and really enjoyed the hard work. In the few weeks after the trip Matt really was hooked on becoming a professional dressage rider.

In the 4 years Matt was in Denmark he worked extremely hard, learning from some of the best trainers in the world. Taking every opportunity that came his way, he worked hard to further his education in dressage riding, teaching, and running a business.

In 2004 Matt returned to the UK and worked at the Nibeley Stud where he backed, trained, and successfully competed their young horses. He was training at the time with Carl Hester. Carl threw a lot of fantastic opportunities his way after Matt decided to start his own business in 2005. Competing his wonderful young horses Matt really started to turn heads with in the British Dressage World.

At the end of 2005 Matt and Adam joined forces to form AM Dressage. Since then they have been a force to reckon with – notching up countless Regional titles, and 6 National titles.

Matt has represented Great Britain and was placed at International CDI level in 2008 - 2011, and is now out competing and being well-placed at International CDIs.
